Synopsis
This is a visual ethnographic experiment I made with my beloved mother during the 2020 lockdown. The project holds a particular place in my heart. Since we filmed it, I have lost my mother, in 2025, and the childhood home where we shot it, and I share it now from exile in London, 2026, far from all of it. In the video, my mother returns to some stark accounts from her friend during their high-school years in Hama, Syria, interrogating the borders of memory she had chosen to bury long ago.
